ATAGI has released a number of recommendations relating to the COVID-19 Vaccine.
Based on the emerging evidence of the extremely rare adverse side effect of blood clots, which is estimated to impact 4-6 recipients of the AstraZeneca Vaccine per 1,000,000 doses, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), has made the following statement relating to the COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout.

Australian health authorities and regulators have assured the public that there is currently no evidence to suggest the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine is not safe or is causing blood clots. It’s come in response to several European countries pausing the AstraZeneca vaccine rollout amid blood clot concerns.

Based on the current data available, ITP Australia’s Medical Advisory Board believe that at this time, the benefits of the SARS-Cov2 vaccines outweigh the risks and strongly favours vaccination of all adults, including those with pre-existing ITP.
