The International ITP Alliance comes together

The International ITP Alliance comes together for the first time in 2024 in London, UK.

In May, the International ITP Alliance convened in London ahead of the UK ITP Update and the ITP Support Association’s annual patient convention. Our biannual in-person meetings offer a crucial opportunity for members to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on initiatives to support those affected by Immune Thrombocytopenia.

During our London meeting, we explored various strategies to help ITP Support Groups worldwide join the Alliance and discussed ways to strengthen our individual organisations. The discussions were dynamic and insightful, covering topics such as best practices in patient support, effective advocacy, and innovative fundraising techniques. After a full day of productive discussions, we enjoyed a delightful River Cruise on the Thames, taking advantage of the beautiful weather that had travelled with me from Australia. It was a pleasure to connect with fellow members of the ITP community, share personal stories, and welcome new members who are considering starting support groups in their countries.

On Friday, we attended the UK ITP Update, where we learned about the latest advancements in therapies and treatments for those living with Immune Thrombocytopenia. This event featured presentations by leading medical experts and provided valuable insights into emerging research and clinical trials. The UK Patient Convention on Saturday offered further opportunities for education and networking, with workshops, patient stories, and interactive sessions designed to empower and inform attendees.

A special thanks to Mervyn Morgan and the UK ITP Support Association team for organising such a wonderful series of events. Their efforts ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all participants.

I greatly appreciate the participation of all International Alliance Members and look forward to our next meeting, where we will continue to build on the momentum generated in London.
