LDH is a blood test that indicates increased cell turnover. It is normal in ITP and, if raised, can indicate an alternative diagnosis such as myelodysplasia or lymphoma OR may indicate that red blood cells and platelets are being destroyed by an immune process. This combined platelet/red cell destruction is called Evans syndrome.
