The number of new people diagnosed with ITP in
Australia and New Zealand is 3.3 per 100,000*.

Adults living with ITP more commonly progress to the chronic form of Immune Thrombocytopenia, with more women with the disease in the 30 to 60year age group; however, it’s relatively equal across the other age groups.

Haematologists refer to the
Consensus Guidelines for the Management of
Adult Immune Thrombocytopenia(ITP)
in Australia and New Zealand.

These guidelines were developed and published in 2021 and updated in 2023 to include additional therapies and changes to the access to some therapies in Australia.
